Leichhardt One Mile Community Centre is a not-for-profit grass-roots community organisation providing services, programs and activities for all in the Ipswich region. We strive to build a community that cares & supports everyone including our most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities, focusing on removing barriers to opportunities & inclusion and improving the quality of life for all individuals & families.
We have a holistic, person-centred approach to caring for individuals that enables us to deliver services that provide effective solutions to each person based on their individual needs. We respond to individual circumstances and engage service users in their support planning to enable positive outcomes to be achieved.
Leichhardt Community Group Inc was originally established in 1984 to provide a means of assistance to those wives who had husbands serving in the RAAF. It provided them a safe place to meet with their children and support each other while their husbands were away on duty. Later the service was expanded to include the all members of the local community in and around the suburbs of Leichhardt, One Mile and Wulkuraka and has continued to provide this support and welfare services ever since. The range of services provided by the centre now aims to include programs that are relevant to people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
